Marriage Notes for William MURRAY and Sarah CROWE-393

Both of Marigomish in the District of Pictou. William Murray took hi oath before Edward Martiner, JP that he was free to marry. Nova Scotia Archives, Marriage Bonds, Microfilm #15927. The occupation of Walter was listed as a Yeoman and Sarah was noted as being a spinster.

Walter MURRAY

Note: It is well known that Walter served in the English army and served in India, apparently there is a wealth of information at the National Archives in London. It is well believed that Walter returned from in India Abt. 1770, and one can assume he spent a number of years there.... If Walter was an office they have the following records available: British Army: Officers' Records 1660-1913. Which could supply information such as date of birth, place of birth, next of kin, etc.... If he was in the regular ranks, you have the Soldiers' discharge papers, 1760-1913 and the Muster rolls and pay lists, c1730-1898. The muster rolls would usually provide his age, place of enlistment and trade. Discharges from the army for the period 1760 to 1913, and are often an excellent source, providing place of birth, age on enlistment, details of appearance and, from 1883 next of kin.
