Listed in "Documentary History of the State of NY", Pg. 661-665, 1698 Census of Flushing, NY. Listed with parents and three siblings.
One source says birth year was 1698, another c 1676-1689.


Robert EMBREE

Variation of surname spellings: Embree, Embray, and Amory.

See Embree Footprints, page 47, Vol. 1.  a notation of his death in the military.

Was a Captain as early as 1755 and commissioned a Lieut. April 28, 1759.  Sent on a mission to Albany, NY May 14, 1759, commanding 389 men.

Script reads...."John Bassett took the oath of fidelity at the General Court held in New Haven 1 July 1644. He and his wife Margery had beenhired in England to be servants of Mr. Stephen Goodyear, the deputy governor of New Haven...."

Listed in Mother's will as "viz John Emery" (Mrs. John Emery).  Also, on page 3, Vol. 1 of Embree Footprints, it's stated ..."Why he wrote 'viz John Emery...is a mystery. (and) "there is also the strong poissibility that this "viz" notation was made by a cerk or copyist at a later date."
